OUR TEAM MEMBERS
Pastor, Music Minister, Choir Cabinet, Section Leaders, Choir members, Musicians, Audio/Visual Technicians, Worship Arts members, and congregants.
THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE MUSIC DEPARTMENT MEMBER
A. Our goal is that every choir member should be saved, sanctified and filled with the Holy Spirit. (This is the focus of personal ministry within the choir.)
B. Each person involved in the ministry of music is called to effectively minister under the anointing. God wants to pour out the Holy Spirit on every person ministering in the house of the Lord. Without the Holy Spirit, we are only singing words.
C. Each person should possess an outward focus of ministry — care for the spiritual well being of other choir members and the needs of the congregation.
D. Each person should be committed to sacrificially giving of the following:
? PRAYER (1 Thessalonians 5:17)
A commitment to covering the music ministry in prayer.
?TIME (Quantity and Quality)
A commitment to attendance as well as being on time at all choir rehearsals and ministry opportunities
? ATTITUDE (The translation of inner feelings into outer actions.)
A commitment to possessing and projecting a positive attitude.
THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE ENTIRE MUSIC DEPARTMENT
A. To point to Christ through music, making Him the focus, and to call the congregation to worship.
B. To be unified in lifting up the name of Jesus.
“…let there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.” (1 Corinthians 1:19)
C. To be soul winners, seeing the members of the choir ministering to the lost, caring for the wounded, and fulfilling the Great Commission (Matt. 28:18-20)
THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE MUSIC DEPARTMENT MESSAGE
A. If you’re not singing about Jesus Christ and or the blood He shed, then you’re not reflecting God’s power to its fullest potential.
B. Music should teach / minister sound Biblical doctrine that it will inspire sound Biblical practice. “The Word of God will not return void.” (Isaiah 55:11)
C. The focus of music is not to “showcase” our talents, but to minister to the Lord and to offer our music for Him to use in any way the He sees fit.
Music is more than a song: it is the foundation of the worship of our Holy, Abba Father. Worship is more than a thought or phrase; it requires active participants. Worship is the very essence of communication with God, our Creator. A church — or temple — is much more than a place to visit on Sundays; it is the dwelling place of Jehovah God Almighty. Our Heavenly Father has chosen to make His abode within each one of us, and therefore, WE ARE THE CHURCH.
In the Old Testament days, the singers and musicians led the children of Israel into battle, and also ushered them into the sacred worship of Yahweh. Today, through the ministry of music, the church — the Body of Christ — experiences the victory of the battle as well as the intimate worship of our most high God.
When taking the above into consideration, we — the singers and musicians of Marietta Church of God — have an awesome responsibility. We are more than just a choir…we are worship leaders, ministers of music, warriors who battle in the heavenlies. The expressions on our faces, and the enthusiasm we demonstrate, will extend to the congregation and will inspire them to begin to praise the Lord and enter into the Holy of Holies. When the Body begins to worship in one accord, the Lord can move in many mighty ways, often manifesting Himself in healing, deliverance, and salvation.
To publicly praise the Lord, proclaim the Gospel, and lead God’s people into a deeper knowledge and experience of Him through the ministry of music. To make the ministry of music available to every ministry of the church that it may enhance the whole church… not just a privileged part.
† To lift up the name of Jesus
† To inspire worship and praise
† To lead God’s army into a victorious battle
† To lead God’s people into the Holy of Holies
† To be a living testimony of the amazing grace of Jesus Christ
